A teenage girl was attacked by armed men, and she managed to fight them off causing them to flee.
On her way home from school, a 14-year-old girl was attacked by two men who were ready to rape her.
The girl, of Randfontein, west of Johannesburg, was walking home from school alone through the woods when the men grabbed her.
The brave girl was not going to let it happen and fought back. “The men came up from behind me, grabbed me by the neck and dragged me deeper into the woods. Then, one man put a gun to my head while the other man tried to pull off my pants”, the girl told police.
She was not going down without a fight. “I kicked one man in the face while he was on his knees and I grabbed the privates of the armed man,” she said. Then, she screamed loudly and started running, leaving her shoes and books behind.
People from a nearby factory came running to see what was going on and the two gunmen fled in the opposite direction. Police are still looking for the suspects.
For 4 years, the girl has been walking this same path. Most of the time she walks home with other kids from school, but that day she was walking alone. She explained that she fought back with all her strength. “I thought they were was going to rape and kill me,” the teen said.
“When the adrenaline kicks in, people can do a lot more than they thought they are capable of. In this case, the girl’s adrenaline rush helped her fight off her captors. Thankfully, she made it out safely and unharmed,” Diane Sullivan, 44, who is a therapist in Canberra, Australia, told YourJewishNews.com when asked for her opinion of the girl’s actions.
Colonel Marius Smith of Randfontein confirmed that police have opened a sexual assault case and the investigation was ongoing.
