Nigerian teenager found guilty of rape in the UK

18 year old Opemipo Jaji who attacked and raped an 11 year old girl November last year had been found guilty of rape and is facing a sentence of life imprisonment. The attack was not Jaji’s first attempt at committing a crime. According to UK Daily Mail, he was under a supervision order for having child porn and had just left an appointment he had with the Probation Service when he followed the victim as she made her way home from school.

Jaji was able to get the girl to Jubilee Park where he raped her repeatedly for three hours. To stop her from screaming, he stuffed a school tie and gloves into her mouth. Jaji however denied being the one who attacked the young girl. ”I am just not capable of doing something as despicable and heartless as this,” Jaji told the court.

Given his record, it is not surprising that no one believed him. In addition, evidence gathered also linked him to the crime. The victim’s blood was found on his clothes while CCTV footage captured him the same bus with her. Jaji also admitted to being at the park on the evening of the attack, although he said he was only there to compose music.

The court found Jaji guilty and he will be sentenced in two weeks time.
