But how many minutes does sex actually last?

There’s really no denying that we’re curious about what goes on in other people’s bedrooms, or that we’re curious mainly because we want to know how it compares to what’s going on in our own. Is the sex we have as good? Do we have it as often? Does it last as long?

Some busybody took a stab at answering this last question, surveying 1,000 folks to see how long foreplay and sex usually last for them. The majority of folks surveyed said they spent 5 to 9 minutes on foreplay and 10 to 14 minutes on sex.

A 2012 study found that an average woman’s ideal day consists of 106 minutes of sexual intimacy — significantly more than the average in reality.
