Nkemdilim Nnabuchi, the defendant, was found guilty of selling heroin and cocaine, according to the intermediate people's court in the city of Qingdao, Shandong Province.
The man came to China on a tourist visa but stayed past the expiration date. He assumed the role of a businessman and courted business partners online.
Nnabuchi would ask those interested in "cooperation" to receive and send mail for him. The mail, sent from Bangladesh, contained drugs, which were distributed nationwide by Nnabuchi's Internet friends.
Qingdao police detected a parcel filled with drugs in March 2012. They linked the parcel to Nnabuchi, who was arrested one month later in southern China, the prosecution said.
