Reports said a bomb went off at the Kano Central Mosque today as Muslims faithful prepared for Friday Prayers, causing serious pandemonium as people ran helter-skelter for dear lives.

The explosion, which went off at about 2 p.m. before the Imam of the mosque, Sani Zahradeen, started for the Friday sermon was said to have been followed by sporadic gunshots.

Scores of people are feared dead in the bomb blast, though the number of dead and injured is not yet confirmed.

Boko Haram kill 10 Soldiers, 35 Hunters In One Day in a Roadside Ambush

At least 10 soldiers and 35 hunters were killed in an ambush that happened around 6PM Nigerian time in a roadside bomb after ambushing a combination of soldiers and hunters in Mararaba near Mubi in Adamawa state.

Mararaba is 18 kilometers from Mubi, a township recently overrun by Boko Haram  sect militants. However, a push by hunters backed by Nigerian troops forced Boko Haram to beat a retreat in the area.

Nigeria’s Minister of Petroleum, Dieziani Alison-Madueke has been elected the first female president of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). She was elected today at the ongoing 166th General Meeting of the body in Vienna, Austria.

She replaces former president of OPEC, Libyan Vice Prime Minister for Corporations, Abdourhman Atahar-Ahirish. She was elected for one year and is expected to immediately resume

US Releases New Procedure For Immigrant Visa

The United States has announced changes in its non immigrant visa procedure.

FrontierNews.com reports that the Consular Chief, Stacie Hankins in a press statement said from November 8, 2014, the document and distribution partnership expanded to include a new location in Port Harcourt, while applicants can now collect their visas from any of the three locations -Abuja, Lagos or Port Harcourt.

Nigeria’s Debt Rises To N10.84 Trillion!

The total debt of the Federal Government and the 36 states of the federation as well as the Federal Capital Territory now stands at N10.84trn, the Debt Management Office has said.

Statistics obtained from the DMO in Abuja on Monday showed that the total debt as of September 30 is higher than the total debt of the country as of September 30, 2013 by 30.29 per cent. As of September 30, 2013, the total debt of the three tiers of government stood at N8.32trn. This, however, excluded the domestic debt of the states which was included in the current debt status of the country.

P-Square’s dad dies 2 years after their mum’s death.

The music duo are yet to confirm the death of their father, neither has their brother Jude Okoye.

According to reports, their father had a successful knee surgery and is set to kick start physiotherapy before he fell down and died on Monday, November 24th.
