Zimbabwe's Vimbai Mutinhiri, a former Big Brother housemate, continues to scale the heights of success with yet another endorsement deal, two years after leaving the house. The 26-year-old's latest achievement came after being chosen as the face of Nokia, featuring in three commercials together with high-profile entertainment figures Nigerian, Uti Nwachukwu and South Africa's, Lawrence Maleka.
Mutinhiri presently co-hosts StarGist, a daily entertainment news and lifestyle show on Africa Magic Entertainment.
The campaign was initiated by Nokia and Africa Magic for the launch of the brand new Lumia smartphone series, the Nokia Lumia 520.
"As a young, fashionable and trendy 'It Girl' on the continent, Vimbai has been chosen to highlight the fun and funky aspects of the Nokia Lumia 520," a statement from Nokia read.
In choosing Mutinhiri, Uti and Lawrence as the faces of its campaign, the organisers said the brand is proving its dedication to satisfying its consumer base, which is predominantly made up of the youth population that looks up to these icons in entertainment.
On receiving the news Vimbai commented that she was "excited to work with a brand that fits so conveniently into my lifestyle, and meets all my communication needs in such a stylish way".
Mutinhiri rose to fame as a housemate in Big Brother Africa Amplified in 2011. Although she did not walk away as the ultimate winner, she managed to impress many with her intellect, a trait that is proving fruitful to this day.
She has co-hosted the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) in Lagos, Nigeria, with Big Brother host IK Osakioduwa earlier this year further solidified her role as a leading host and TV personality on the continent.
