The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has zoned its principal offices in the national assembly and it appears David Mark, former senate president, will not be occupying the position of senate minority leader.
Olisa Metuh, spokesman of the PDP, said party has zoned the minority leader of the upper chamber of the national assembly to the south-south while the deputy minority leader will go to the north-east.
Being from Benue, which is in the north-central, Mark has automatically been excluded from leading the PDP in the senate.
The PDP has also zoned the position of minority whip to the north-central while that of the deputy minority whip to the south-west.
In the house of representatives, the PDP has zoned the office of the minority house leader to the south-south; deputy minority house leader, south-east; minority whip, north-west, and deputy minority whip, north-east.
“You are through this medium advised to use your various zonal party caucuses to choose the party’s principal officers to enable you provide effective opposition in the respective chambers of the national assembly,” Metuh said, adding that the directive was in line with the standing rules of both chambers.
